Beacon Light Prison Ministry
"…To open blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house." Isaiah 42:7
Prisoners need restoration not rehabilitation, and Jesus has commissioned his followers to reach beyond steel bars to touch the lives of others bound by the shackles of sin.
Mission Statement
The Beacon Light Prison Ministry of the Love Fellowship Tabernacle - The Kingdom Church is an all - embracing program that provides spiritual resources that will restore and transform the lives of at risk youth, incarcerated individuals and their family members.
Ministry Goals
- To share God’s unconditional Love.
- Witness and win souls for the Kingdom of God by presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- To lead inmates to experience the life-changing power of God that will free them from disgrace, culpability, and disapproval.
- Assist the inmate to function in a more positive manner within the jail/prison system.
- To provide support to at-risk youth and allow them the chance to change their lives for the better.
- To minister to the families of those incarcerated.
- To diminish the rate of recidivism.
- Prepare inmates for re-entry into society to become positive contributors of the world and victorious in life.
Ministry Divisions
Evangelism - Conducting worship services and bible study to inmates detained at the George R. Vierno Center on Rikers Island twice per month.
Correspondence - Sharing the love of Christ in the exchanging of letters, gospel tracts and words of encouragement to inmates on a consistent basis.
Family Relations - Providing spiritual help to family members to assist with the crisis of their loved one being incarcerated.
Program Coordination - Planning of special events programs and services in which family members are invited such as our Baptism Ceremony for inmates and our annual Family and Friends Holiday Banquet. These programs unite inmates with their family members in a more contented surrounding although still in the correctional facility setting.
Mentorship - Mentoring program in conjunction with the Youth and Congregations in Partnership of the Kings County District Attorney’s Office to mentor court-involved youth between the ages of 13-18.
Prison Ministry is a blessing for all involved. It is an extraordinary ministry that is special to Christ that brings joy to his heart and to the Men and Women we reach. Those involved will experience the source of pleasure in leading people to Jesus Christ and seeing them start their lives over in ways pleasing to God.
Make a difference that can change the world.
